Behind Closed Doors
This is a view behind closed doors in a middle class American suburb during a raging drug epidemic, a family portrait of generational trauma and addiction over a 34 year period. In 2020, 93,655 people died of drug overdoses in the United States, more than in any other one-year period in history. That same year my sister died from drug and alcohol use. My mother died this summer from addiction. My family, the same as millions of other families, is a nameless casualty of this ongoing public health crisis.

This is our story.
