Behind Closed Doors
This is a view behind closed doors in a middle class American suburb during a raging drug epidemic, a family portrait of generational trauma and addiction over a 34 year period. In 2020, 93,655 people died of drug overdoses in the United States, more than in any other one-year period in history. That same year my sister died from drug and alcohol use. My family, the same as millions of other families, is a nameless casualty of this ongoing public health crisis.
This is our story.
