Secret Lives of Statues
Secret Lives of Statues is a one year documentary project about the Tuileries Garden. The Tuileries is situated in the center of Paris between the Louvre and Champs Elysee. It’s an area full of tourists, social media influencers and well-heeled Parisians, and home to 120 statues, some dating back to the 17th century.
I began photographing weekly in The Tuileries in September 2022 and quickly turned my attention to the statues in the garden. The statues came to life before my eyes and I found wonder in the human qualities and various personalities of each one. Through renovations in the park, change of seasons, festivals and all kinds of weather, I was delighted in the statues’ interactions with the garden visitors.
